HMMMMMM This is an old post, all I can say is I have a Hudson, and it does campare with any proto 2000 or Bachmann engine, It runs great, Is very powerful, sounds terrific,but does not have a working front coupler. Have no idea how difficult it would be to put one there, as of yet I have had no need for one, but it cant be That hard <br /> Having said all that, pics of the new mikado on their web site do not seem as detailed as my Hudson, seems it has more cast on piping etc, one of the many things that turned me off to Athearn steamers <br />
