Does anyone out there have any experience in repowering the Mantua 2-8-2 Camelback in preparation for conversion to DCC??
Any and all help gratefully received. Thanks.

I have no experience with the Camelback, but other Mantua models used open frame motors screwed directly to the locomotive frame for electrical contact, so you will need to change the motor mount to an insulated type or change to a can motor.
I have 3 or 4 Mantua models that I never operate because their motors are so bad. Maybe someday I'll get around to replacing them and converting to DCC at the same time. For now, they are just static display models.
