Hobby Circle in NY??
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, May 21, 2004 6:04 AM
Hi folks, has anyone here ever ordered from Hobby Circle in Brooklyn NY and needed to get a refund on something? I ordered several items from them about a week ago. Yesterday I got a part or my order, but no mention on my packing slip of the rest of it. I called and before I could even tell the guy what was missing, he said they were unavailable, and I could send them a money request through my Paypal account, which is how I paid. I just got the sensation they weren't taking me totally seriously, and the guy's voice sounded eerily similar to a guy I was trying to work with at a computer store in NY about a year to two years ago. Took me a year and writing to the NY State Attorney General's office to get my refund from that computer store. Maybe I'm just paranoid. Sorry for rambling but was wondering if other folks out there had experience with Hobby Circle. Thanks! Gary

I had a similar problem. I ordered a case of flex track and some switches. Rather than put it all in one box, they sent it as two. UPS only delivered one. I had to make a lot of calls to get Hobby Circle to trace the package. Wasn't impressed with their customer service. Prices good.

I had no really big problems with Hobby Circle, the problem I had was about their stock, allthough their website said : "ship within 3 days" items were not available. after some mailing about availability of some locomotives they said "check www.walthers" so I did and the last orders I got from them I placed in that way: check www.walthers if the locomotives are available, send mail to hobbycircle for prices and place order because their pricing was good.

HI:

I purchased a Santa Fe Warbonnet Doodlebug from HC on eBay. They shipped a mustache unit. I was told to send it back and they would give me a refund as the Warbonnet was no longer available. I sent it back over seven months ago and still haven't gotten my refund. EBay hasen't done anything either. Then they advertised another Warbonnet on eBay. I think that they are a shoddy organization and I tell everyone that will listen. No one in our club will order from them anymore.

!!!!!!!!!! BEWARE OF THESE PEOPLE !!!!!!!!

Hi all, first off wanted to thank those who replied to my message (sorry my first post had to be a complaint) and secondly I got my refund from Hobby Circle today for the items I did not receive. Didn't take nearly as long as I expected, but I won't be ordering from them again. My chief complaints:

a. Poor customer service and customer service reps interrupt you before you fini***alking
b. No mention on packing slip of items not received being backordered, no longer available, etc., and no mention of how to get a refund for those items.
c. No response to e-mails sent to them.

But it turned out ok and a lesson learned on my part!

I placed an order with this group, paid the credit card and have yet to receive anything. Emails go unasnwered. They are definitely not a creditable retailer. I bought from them because of their very low prices. I now recall the old saying "if it sounds too good to be true, it is most likely not true.." Stay away from this company as it is bad news.

Greetings,

I bought my track from them when I got back into model railroading. I replaced my old brass track with nickel silver.

After alot of research I found this place to have the lowest price. After many phone calls and e-mails and 3 shipments I did get my complete order.

Low prices but bad customer service.
