The SP&S had several logging railroads feeding traffic to it. In addition to the 4th and 5th subdivisions of the Oregon Electric (the Santiam branches in the Sweet Home, Ore., area), the Portland Division (Astoria Line), the Oregon Trunk, and the Goldendale Branch also had logging lines that interchanged traffic.

Trying to describe logging operations in a brief space is impossible. Get a copy of the book "SP&S" by Ed Austin and Tom Dill for more information on SP&S and its logging connections.
