wwasi, <br /> I installed a can motor ( from a VCR) and an Ernst regear kit in one of the older Athearn RDCs. <br /> The Ernst kit is designed for the newer style Athearn motor with a 1/8" shaft. If you have the older version I would recommend replacing the motor anyway. <br /> It runs OK , but as with most Ernst regears it has some gear noise. <br />I am considering using a self propelled underfloor power truck on the other one I have.
