Locomotive3,

I know it's frustrating having to get a new unit repaired.

Are you going to go ahead and ship it or is there anyway that with help from some fellow skilled modelers the unit could be repaired?

"I like my Pullman Standards & Budds in Stainless Steel flavors, thank you!"

Locomotive3, is that expres mail or normal USPS rate?
be sure to look into that before shipping, if it is the normal shipping service it can take up to 8 weeks to arrive there, because they ship it by boat!
Another service by airmail to europe is handled by a large cargo and storage handler overhere and the goods are often treated like a sack of potatoes,
beware before shipping goods overhere!

My FEFs are working.
It's a warning to other modelers that we cannot get domestic warranty service
which was different from the Riv Allegheny a few years back.

The mailorder firms won't tell you nor will Walthers which I think is a disservice
to the World's Greatest Hobby. I'm disappointed, it's unprofessional. Without domestic back up service for a whole new drive etc it's not fair for me to recommend this product .

I already have been to the Post Office. The $21.10 is for air/ins,five to ten days.

Express mail is in the upper $30s and then it can go by boat less than $10.00

I didn't bother to ask how Lima would return it.

Chuck,
IF you have to send it, wich I won't hope is needed, don't pay for the EXPRESS, that is the service wich is handled by Freight Carriers in Europe !
AIR: there has been complaints about this express service to Canada as well some months ago on this forum.

BTW that is a better price you was given by USPS as most mailorder companies charge me for sending stuff from the US to europe!
they charged me $36,= for 2 locomotives 2 weeks ago for boat-shipment

BTBTW not giving US warranty service on FEF's is IMHO VERY un American! how can they do that?
on the "certificate of garantee" is stated:
If it should become defective ( with normal use and handling) during this warranty period simply return it to your dealer in the original box, along with this form and proof of puchase
but this card is not filled in by the dealer so makes that the card worthless?
maybe something for someone with a legal study to look into,
if the dealers would not give us warranty they should or could have stated that at time of purchase, because I think an insider could know the position of Rivarossi as they started delivering the FEF's last december and januari

"It's how you interpret the warranty langauge and who is authorized.
This is why I called Golf Manor Hobbies in Cinn, First Hobby in Decatur Il and Walthers in Milwaukee.. I was not happy about the response so I e-mailed Lima
in Italy.

Their response left no doubt.

"Lima authorized repair service is based here in Italy by us for any country in the world'.
"Under warranty you have to send it to us with the warranty card and we will repair it without charges".

I bet you can't even get replacement parts in the US yet.

In most other new loco releases you can get domestic repairs.
