Are any of you on dial-up connections?? II was looking at this forum over the weekend at my father-inlaw's place and it took forever for a page to load with large photo signatures.

While I do enjoy the photos of the trains, people should size them down accordingly for faster download for dial-up users. I'm on a T3 line and it does not matter but I still see the photos come in at a VERY LARGE size then truncate down. My suggestion is make the photos 300 x 200 pixels at 72 dpi save it out as a web-ready JPG in photoshop (if you have it). That should make it speedy for everyone. BUT, if you don't have the means to do this then oh-well. [:)]

There are programs out there that allow the resizing of Images, some free, some cost money. I have Paintshop Pro 6 and i can easily resize and adjust pictures to a web friendly size, which is for signitures, is around 4-5k in size.

But we do have to remember there are still plenty of folks on dial up accessing these forums, so the ideal thing is to have no pictures in signitures and to post in the titel of thread you're putting pics in that there are pics there.

Let's just be polite and keep the pics to a minimum for those of our friends still on dialup, they have a hard enough time as is without us making it harder.

Mark, I thought we had been through this a while back. There is one major difference now, and that is you aren't posting 5 or 6 times per page. Like I said before,and Jay and Dano have mentioned here, we all need to be careful of signature photo size. Another problem is that they are retroactive, and go back to EVERY SINGLE POST you've made.

I know you young guys including Noah and Shaun and a couple of others, like your photo sigs, but think what would happen if everyone did this. I'm not saying don't do it, just think about it differently, and you might change your mind again.[swg]

Yeah I remember when I post that 3 meg pic and I learned my lesson. BTW this pic is 500 by 330 pixels and 35,000 KBs close to the GIFs I had in my sig before.

FYI it took about 25 seconds to download for me on dial-up - worth the wait but still felt like a long time!

I agree, it's a little bit annoying to have the entire thread all stretched out, then all of a sudden it all shrinks back in.....bit of a pain in the ***, but no big deal.

Loading time isn't a problem.
