June issue of MR Rocks!!
Posted by Roadtrp on Monday, May 3, 2004 12:09 PM
The current issue of MR is the best I've seen since I became a subscriber. Many useful and wide-ranging articles...

A zillion square foot multi-level HO layout for those with big dreams

An extremely well done 4' X 8' HO layout that any ‘normal’ modeler could aspire to.

Gorgeous garden layout for all you folks with a million bucks and nothing to spend it on. [;)]

Informative "how to's" on adding ground cover and modeling ponds (the section on creating lily pads was one of the coolest tips I've ever read).

I truly thought it was a great issue with something for everyone. Well Done!! [:)][:)]

I hadn't had a chance to post yet but this issue is really good. Far cry better than the last one. I even liked the MEGA layout in this issue. There were some good how to's. Most of this issue was useful. Thank You MR.

I did notice after reading some more that one of the bridges in the Kansas Speedway article looks really familiar. I think it was in a couple of years ago that MR showed how to make it. If it is it's nice to see how and where it ended up.

Yes this issues is far better than they've had out lately, the "How to light a layout" Article was a very good way to get you to think of alternatives to lighting your layouts.

I was much impressed with this Issue, let's hope they continue the informative, well contructed articles in the following months. I would like to see them do an artile on Super small space layouts (not shelf) for those that are (or will be) contrained to apartments or other smaller places and would still like to run trains.

Well written articles![:D]

Guys, as I've stated before, we can't blame MRR when some issues "don't satisfy us". Many modelers are doing some really innovative or creative projects out in the land but they're not submitting their work to the magazine. I sincerely believe that some of the guys that have complained about MRR articles have had interesting accomplishments that they themselves could have contributed. [:0][;)][:)]

I know a group of guys that are doing some beautiful detailing work on Proto, Atlas and Athearn locomotives in the SCL scheme. This includes DCC conversions, light bulb replacements with LEDs, custom built MU receptacles, body details smaller than the tip of your finger nails, and outstanding weathering jobs. I'm currently on their backs about taking photos, writing short articles and sending them to MRR. I think they will eventually as I continue to harp on them. [;)][C):-)][4:-)][:)]

If you know of modelers doing some really cool or unusual things or you are yourself, get off your keester, take photos and send them in.

Everyone benefits! [:D][;)][:p][8)][:o)][:I][:X][^][4:-)][C=:-)][C):-)][dinner][swg][{(-_-)}][8)]

I am truly enjoying this month's issue also. The article on light pile trestles was timely for me as I am just about to build about 40 of these for my layout. Thanks MR for a timely article on my part.

To respond to Antonio's comment just above, I agree that those who have something to contrubute should certainly do so. The photo issue stands in many people's way, however. I, for one, do not have the photography equipment or skills to produce publication quality pics for an articel submission. If I could find an affordable way around this obstacle (like a photographer friend to help me) I would have written an article on my first portable N scale Marsh Creek layout some time ago.
