Digital Camera
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, April 20, 2004 8:21 AM
My Olympus digital was ripped off while I was on vacation. It wasn't so much the camera that [censored] [censored] [censored]... it was the 179 photos that were on the memory card that I was most upset about.

Well anyway, I got a new camera. It is a Canon Powershot S1 IS - http://www.powershot.com/powershot2/s1is/index.html It's a new model from Canon which only started shipping last week. Big $$ but, Sure is sweet! Haven't been much of a railfaner 'til now. However, armed with a new 32x zoom camera I'm chomping at the bit to get out and take a few photos!!

Taking "test" photos around the house, of the dog, is getting v e r y boring [:D]

Dave,

Congrats on the new camera. I wound up buying a Canon Rebel SLR ( http://www.canoneos.com/digitalrebel/index.html ), the same one that Bob Boudreau uses. Q: Where did the money come from? A: My wife and I had earmarked ~$1500 for home improvements, now guess who will be doing the 'labor' part?[;)] Of course this will delay my layout reconstruction a few months, but I can live with that, if I can eventually LEARN to shoot photos as good as Bob's...

Dave,

Sorry to hear about your camera, but you will like the new Canon. I finally jumped from
film to digital over a year ago when I bought an Olympus 720. About four months ago
I jumped to a Canon 10D SLR.... and have sold all my "analog" equipment.
Digital is the only way to go, and it sure makes capturing layout "progress
report" shots a lot more fun.

Have fun with your new clicker, when they finally ship it. Best regards,

Ken,

LOL [(-D] Yep! I do understand!!

Bob,

My Olympus digital was 4 years old and the new Canon is 4 days old. [:D]

I haven't sold my Pentax film camera and lenses yet. I guess I should use the new camera, take some pics and put it up on eBay. I had the camera body, lenses, and all accessories appraised about a year ago for $600. I'm sure I could get $1200 on eBay [:D]

BTW if anyone's interested in a used film camera e-mail me.

Dave,

I sold my gear on E-bay and did VERY well..... Good luck ! It beat the heck out of
any local appraisal, and the on-line appraisals from B&H, and Adorama Photo.

My project for today is to dust off the ol' Pentax, and shoot some photos of it so I can sell it on e-Bay. Hmmmm... maybe I can get that new BLI engine sooner than expected!

Any selling tips from e-Bayers??
