Those darn NEM couplers!

I want to replace the European style couplers on a Trix reefer, and would like to know, how do you get the center sill, train line and brake detailing off of the underbody? I will need to take this off to do what I plan to do to put in a Kadee coupler.

Also, that pesky little Red Caboose flatcar I have is annoying me again. If I put CA on the bottom of the body to glue on the lead weight, it shouldn't cloud up the plastic on the deck, should it?

cjm, I can't help you on that Trix reefer but on the flat car, you would probably be safe if you don't use any accelerator on it. I found by chance in our local super market, CA glue made for plastic. I bought a tube and tried it on some scrap plastic and it worked great, strong and no clouding. I went back and bought several more tubes. Ken

I understood that there were Kadee compatible couplers that fitted NEM pockets (or is that what you want to replace?)

I got the underbody off of the Trix car today, and yes, I wanted to replace the pocket. I think right now I'll glue on Athearn coupler pockets since they don't need screws, and I wont have to fill in the holes in the metal underfraim. I was thinking of how to replace the pocket today, and I tried that, and it was a pain. There is no way you could cut styrene sheet to fit in the hole cleanly enough to look decent.
