Replacing life-like couplers
Posted by Noah Hofrichter on Saturday, April 10, 2004 12:38 PM
I have some life-like cars from several years ago that have truck mounted horn hook couplers. I would like to make these into knuckle couplers by mounting some Kadee couplers in the pocket. I can get the horn hook couplers out, but I can't get the metal part of the kadee set in. Does anybody know a way to do this, or can you give some tips on how to cut the pocket old pocket out, and attatch a new one to the body of the car. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Noah[:p]

Try going to www.kadee.com/conv/list.htm and scroll down to LL and see what the recommended
coupler # is then go back to www.kadee.com list by product number, 1-79, scroll down to the coupler # and click. It may have an exploded diagram and extended instructions/recommendations.

Thanks Snake for another route. I see where I made a typo, a slash, instead of a period after list.

I see that they recommend a 27TM for some of those cars. I don't know what the TM stands for.
Perhaps an e-mail to Sam Clarke, coupler coversion specialist at KD. This is what Sam gets paid for.
Go to www.kadee.com scroll down to Company info, then down to "E-Mail and click and their e-mail form pops up. Send it to Sam

Noah;
KD makes an adapter for these trucks and its called a Talgo Adapter kit. There are I think 12 or more adaptors in each kit , enough to do at least 6 cars. Its a simple snap on/in assembly .
