Walthers N scale double stack cars
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, September 18, 2001 10:50 AM
Can anyone tell me about the operating qualities of Walthers' N scale 5-unit double-stack well cars? Do they run well? Or, for instance, do they need truck replacements or other enhancements to get them up to par with say Micro Trains? Need weight added? etc.

thanx!

I usually run several of the Walthers 5-unit well cars with no problems on Ntrak layouts. I did replace the trucks on each end with Micro-Trains. As far as extra weight is concerned, I think they're heavy enough by themselves but my containers (I also glue my stacked containers together)have extra weight in the bottom unit for use in other well cars. I have the etched stainless steel platform details but haven't installed them yet.

I have two sets and they run great right out of the box.

Allen,

Q: What particular Micro-Trains trucks did you install at either end of the Walthers n-scale articulated stack cars, i.e., part number?

Thanx!
