Really dropping the ball.

I recently saw that Overland Models has announced yet another run of UP 3 Unit Gas Turbines. This time the price tag will probably be way in excess of what I am willing to pay and afford. Model Railroader recently ran a poll on what locomotive people would most like to see made. The winner was, you guessed it the Three Unit Turbine. My gripe is that while the Overland model will be awesome in every respect, I have no intent putting a car down payment on a model that is too expensive to run. It is time that some manufacturer takes the plunge and commits to making a model that is both affordable, with sound, and highly detailed for all the UP fans that can't afford brass. While the Veranda model by Lionel is a really good start, its time we see the king of turbines made for all of UP fans to enjoy. Politics aside, are there any UP fans and manufacturers out there listening?

Just because a brass manufacture announced another run of Turbines, doesn't mean it won't be done in plastic too. BLI or LL may already be prepping to do it as we speak.

Hi Bigblow, so you noticed it as well !
I wonder what the price will be this time, the older ones were sold for about
$ 1695,= as I might recall, does anyone know how Overland models run, what kind of motor do they have inside are they DCC ready?

The Lionel veranda turbine has been delayed, last month walthers was taking reservations for March delivery, than it changed to TBA and now the release date is shifted to April 30,
so all UP turbine fans must be patient this year, or start putting aside money for the near future

One burning question, albeit a little off topic: What does TBA stand for? (Sorry I can't help with the turbine question.)

TBA=To Be Anounced. Yes, we need a three unit turbine! The Veranda is cool, but I bet BLI would do a good 3 unit turbine. Think about the sound! They sounded like jet-planes!

I have a post at the atlas site too. We have to voice our opinions and if enough of us want one well WILL get this done.

I will NOT pay over 2K retail for this model, if I decide to purchase one. I hope Overland is listening. I 'll just wait for an old one to go for sale on EBAY.
