Disappearing MR "online bonus"
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, March 25, 2004 7:45 PM
I don't subscribe to MR, but I do buy it every month. It gives me an excuse to drop in at my local (tiny) hobby shop, where I also generally pick up a kit or some paint or hardware, etc.

The April issue has only been available on the newsstands here for about ten days. I bought one and particularly enjoyed the article on page 62, "Cast an abandoned house" by the late Lee Van Visse. An on-line bonus accompanied that article, a *** Scott item from the July 2001 issue. A few days ago I viewed the PDF article at work and saw that it contained a lot of content that I could apply to my modeling efforts. This evening I entered the site from my home computer so that I could print out the article on my good color printer. I was disappointed that the April issue was no longer featured, having been replaced by May. And the April bonuses were gone. And this is still March.

Surely the content should be available at least until the end of the cover month, in this case April?

Does anyone else, particularly outside the US, have this problem?

Thanks

Do you mean this?

Still there, just takes a bit more to find it. You have to go to the May issue, scroll down for "related stories", one of which is the April issue, and go from there....

Ditto to what masonjar said. I get my MR experience by reading it from my local library. you can't take the current issue out of the library. I have to wait till the month after the current issue is the seconed most recent issue. I hate waiting, but it cheaper this way. This means i always have to go back a month or sometimes 2 to find the correct online bonus.
