That's Ok with me,but I feel you'd have to give your e-mail so that interested people could join you directly.I like to think this forum is for model railroading discussions,not a commercial venture or an auction site.My thoughts..............

On the other hand,I think giving fellow forum members the opportunity to get a good deal on stuff,or even trade,or whatever is a neat idea.Any of us may be looking for a special "something" that another forum member may wi***o part with.....I like that.

What up with this? A few days a go, people jumped all over BuickGSXjuiced for doing the same thing. If there are rules for this site about saleing then the rules should be for all. Everyone's always talking about keeping the model railroading forum for modeling and not real railroads or getting to far off topic, but did we join to find another E-Bay or online store, or to talk about our hobbies and our pride and joys? Not to be sounding mean or anything it's just a pet peve of mine when the rules don't apply to all but only a select few and the rules always change to suit the select few.

Don't get terribly fired up--the administrators of this website can't be here constantly--they have other responsibilities too. I wouldn't mind a separate "swap shop" forum but the duties (legal and otherwise) would probably be way too much for this forum (run by a small business for the benefit of us all) to handle. This was probably just an innocent inquiry. Just my 2 cents.

When I posted yesterday,I didn't mean to impose any kind of authority over this forum.I'm just a forum member,not one of it's administrators.All i did,in fact,is express my feeling that this forum hasn't been designed nor meant for this purpose right from the start.And as "emory" has stated,such a use of this forum would probably exceed its legal boundaries and generate extra financial load so that this forum's administrators would have (rightfully so) to interfere and probably block all posts that would initiate any dealing within this forum.

What I meant,in fact,is that any of us could let everyone know that he has say item X that he would like to part with,or else would like to find item Y,then let know how he could be reached.Then the negociating part becomes personal.Just that simple.

This way,this forum's ground rules wouldn't be violated and I believe its administrators wouldn't have to interfere,wich would take care of the legal part I guess.It also would prevent having endless pages of increased bidding posts that such a practice is likely to generate,as there are other websites specially geared for this.

I also have the feeling that negociations between people is a private matter.I'd hate to read multiple comments on how good or bad a negociator one is,commenting on how good a deal he's had or how bad is the item he's purchased,or whatever..........

I think this forum is great,being very helpful to model railroaders,and I'd hate to see it disappear because of abusive use.Why don't we just make sure that we respect the purposes it was created for right from the start,meaning an information tool for members,not an auction site.

I would like to see a section in the forum just for items for sale. No auction, no bidding, first come, first serve. All negotiation by email off the forum. Items could be listed in the thread title with details available by clicking the item. That way you could run through fast to see what's listed. This would also keep sales off this section of the forum.

It would benefit MR because more people would be hitting the forum and more often just to see what they can grab.

Let's face it, it's very hard to sale and swap unless you go to a club or have modeling friends. This would open up a new avenue for equipment acquisition without eBay or pricey vendors. It would let you find rare or lustfully desired special pieces that you couldn't find anywhere else.

It's about time that model railroaders came up with a way to use the Internet for moving their unwanted surplus equipment.

great idea, but I have seen a "selling forum" being flooded by "pricy vendors" posing as Joe Average to get a free advertising space or a place to pick-up valueable stuff from people who do not quite now what they are selling, when bidding like on E-Bay that is not possible, and what might be the US legal issues for the Forum operator if someone gets ripped of ?
