Good News! Quality DCC decoders are now cheaper than ever!

Hello friends,[:)][:D]

Thanks so much for your responses to the DCC related poll I posted! I just received some good info from Bruce Petrarca at Litchfield Station as follows:

www.litchfieldstation.com

From Bruce:

The LE1000W decoder is now $12.75 for single units or
get a Five Pack for $59.50 - UNDER $12 a decoder!

I also now have decoders from various manufacturers between
$16 and $20.

Thanks for supporting my little enterprise
Bruce Petrarca

I still remember that in 2002 decoders with the "extra features" were going for $50 each, as someone stated in the poll. As predicted, DCC prices have DROPPED greatly as popularity increases and products become even more user friendly for beginners. What's better is that DCC is upgradeable, so when advances are made, you won't have to "get rid of" current DCC equipment". [;)][tup]

Bruce also pointed out that many folks will spend quite a bit of "$$"in creating an elaborate switch panel and purchasing several "Cabs" when $160 for one Zephyr will do the same thing.

So for many of us that are interested in DCC but think it's "too expensive", that argument is quickly becoming "moot".

Guys and gals, for those of us satisfied with DC, this is not to "rub your face in it". It's just info that I felt should be shared as quite a number of our fellow modelers are still under the impression that DCC is "unaffordable".

Hope this helps, Peace Out! [:D][8D][8)][swg][tup]

That's a great post and I'm DC. I'm having a tricky time trying to coordinate the Allegheny & FEF on the same
track which are DCC ready. My older stuff may not be a simple drop in. What I don't need is a major
monumental challenge. Thanks for the post.

Thanks Antonio, I am one that is satisfied with my straight DC and I do whine about the price of things now and then. I will probabley install DCC in a couple of my locos that are DCC ready in the future as our to be built new layout at our club will probabley be DCC, however my home layout will remain non-DCC as my funds at the present are basicly nonexistant due to surgery several months ago and another surgery coming up in a few weeks. I'll be tied up with medical bills for the next few years so I have to be content with what I already have. I'm just thankful I can still enjoy the hobbie and do not feel you or anyone else is rubbing DCC in my face. I only mentioned my surgery deal so you'll understand that as inexpensive as DCC is becoming, it is still expensive to me. I am also greatful to you and all the others here on the forum for your opinions and input into our hobby and the help you give the newer folks just starting out and especially for putting up with some of us old codgers with our hard heads and sometimes set in our ways attitudes and our sometimes long winded replies!!!!!! Hey guys,

Glad the info is helpful!

ErieDiamond, you and most "seasoned codgers are not hard-headed! You've all seen and heard new innovations introduced with a lot of "hype" only to see it "fizzle" in a year or two. Skepticism and caution are good assets for modelers to use!

I pray and hope that your surgery is successful.

God Bless, Amigo!

At those prices I may acctually and seriously consider DCC in the not so distant future. I am not againt innovation but am the type of person that normally will sit and wait to see what direction new technology will go before I venture down the road. As a navigation Officer I have seen more systems spring up and disapear after the government has invested countless millions into it that I never go in on first or second generation equipment.
