Question about getting started with DCC...

If I were you, I would first read a book. Kalmbach has a couple of good ones out. A book will help you get familiar with the terminology and give you a general idea of how things go together. Then I would see if you can find someone (at a local club or hobby shop) that you can talk to who is familiar with DCC. When I got started, my local hobby shop got me started with my first loco and helped me with programming it. Then, when you've seen it done once, installing a decoder and setting up your next locomotive is very straight-forward and WELL worth the effort. DCC is the best thing to happen to the hobby in many a year!
