I personally favour 1/8 inch thick polystyrene foam, available in D.I.Y. stores as a lining material under wallpaper. It is so cheap that u can afford to roll it out on the baseboard, lay track then trim away the excess. It can be drawn on with a felt-tip pen to mark out track etc. <br />In the U.K. the brand name is "warmaline".
