Greetings from the West. I've not previously heard of the NBSR so now I'm curious about paint schemes etc. Do you have a favourite web link for this? Have fun with the modelling...[C):-)]

cheers, krump

Well the NBSouthern yard is about a quarter mile from where I live, so I've done some modelling of their locos. I've done two of the GP9's - 3764 and 3787. I've just recently completed one of their all yellow GP38-2's with Sunbury Transport markings. I have photos of the prototype on my web site, and at the bottom of the page there is a link to a page with the model photos. From the main page go to "Prototype Photos: My site:
http://www.geocities.com/fundynorthern/index.html

The NB Southern site: http://www.nbsouthern.com/index.htm
A freind's site on the NBSR: http://geocities.com/nbsrfan/

The NB Southern is a privately owned shortline than used to be operated by CPR, from Saint John, New Brunswick through Maine and on to Montreal. The NBSR operates the portion within New Brunswick.

As far as I know, PenBay made the decals on their own. I just bought some for my use. As noted on the description of my Sunbury painted model, I made those decals myself using the Testors Decal kit.

How do you use the testor decal kit is it the one you print off the computer. What I mean is did you scan your photo's and make the decals that way.I'm really interested in building one of these myself but I'm new to the hobby so any help is appreciated. Thanks Dallas Fredericton

It is a nice surprise to see another person from snb on the forums. Ive seen your layouts, live together at train shows, in saint john. I used to live in the duplexes on dever road on the yard side of the road, often on lazy saturdays i would go to the yard and just watch the switching operations of the yard. I havent seen the sudbury painted ones, but i havent been in that area for 2years now.

I scanned a photo of a Sunbury truck that I took some time ago, and just used the logo. The rest of the lettering was just text that I rearranged in a print program. You may have more of a problem finding an Athearn GP38-2 without the dynamic brake blister, as they are pretty scarce. I had the dummy model on hand, but it had dynamic brakes. Another friend who is making one too found a pair of the Athearn parts in a shop in the U.S. for us to use.

The local Train Trax hobby shop made six or so of the models for NB Southern, and is working on one of his own. Might be easiest to get a copy of his artwork or maybe he will sell you some decals he's made.

Good luck!
