I was just wondering if any body else has the problem of these web pages in other words trains. com). They seem to be slower at loading then any other web pages. I only have dial up access, but I was wondering if any body else has this same problem.

Long signature blocks, smilies, pictures, etc. are slowing the system down, even for those who have fast connections. What you might call a self-inflicted gunshot.

Yes, I have noticed that the pages here load slowly. I don't think it is due to signatures and graphics though. I have seen the same amount of content processed much more quickly on other bulletin boards. I think the problem is due to a slow server or lack of bandwidth.

IMHO this site is slower than others because they use Active Server Pages (ASP) programing. ASP is another one of Billy G's nightmares.

Active Server Pages is a specification for a dynamically created Web page with a .ASP extension that utilizes ActiveX scripting -- usually VB Script or Jscript code. When a browser requests an ASP, the Web server generates a page with HTML code and sends it back to the browser.

Notice in the address bar of your browser: http...../topic.asp.....

Slows down the whole viewing process. Nothing we as viewers can do - just have to live with it. [:D]

It's lightning fast for me. I've got cable, too. Except, my computer is running out of disk space, but we're getting another disk. Can you believe I still have Windows 98!? I want XP!!!!!!

IMHO the forum only slows down when there are lots of users logged in,and it has less to do with pictures and other digital goodies in the posts
Snake you seem to know something about the technical stuff:
aren't the pictures and other items of this pages kept on your Harddisk, in the temporary internet files, after you first visit to a page?

I live out in the boonies. Cable or DSL is not available to me. I also find this website to be the slowest. I don't see it mattering if the website is busy or not, it just seems to be slow!

I'd agree about the site being slow to load - I only have a 56k modem at home, tried it on the network in college and found it much faster - they have high-speed lines! It's not that much of a problem because I tend to have more than one window open and will check emails, etc while waiting for this site to load.
