when did the MKT merge with the Union Pacific?

I'm not sure of the answer but I lived in Oklahoma several hundred years ago and fondly remember those MKT locos. I agree Rock Island gone but not forgotten. I model them in a weird way.

MKT merged with UP in 1988.

Some time back you had an article on the old KATY RR from Camden,TX to Colmesneil, TX and I have misplaced the MR Mag. it was in and was wondering if you could help me out
