My layout has both a continuous run mainline and a point to point branch line. I enjoy letting the main line train run while I try to do interchange work with the branch line's train. It's fun to dodge in and out of the main line while switching the cars. I keep one eye on the job at hand and the other out for blue Mopac engines swinging around the curve.
I use a radio controlled throttle and can control both trains from it. If conditions warrant, I can slow or pause the main line until the way is clear.
I love my railroad! [:D]
