Railfan Trip part 2
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, February 14, 2004 8:09 AM
Yesterday we went railfan in the Allentown (Pennsylvania), we had a LOT better time than the last. We where hoping to see 2 UP SD70Ms that where arriving then. We didn't see them but we got better!

We drove along side of the yard in Allentrown(NS and or the town had kept railfans away from the hump since they parked too close to the road which by the way is very small). As we drove to the end we say a NS SD38/MT6 slug set painted in the old scheme. We drove to the end of the yard and saw them... 2 UP units in the yard lead. We pulled into a small lot and got out, we saw that the consist was 1 UP SD70M (flag unit), 1 NS C40-9 (not wide cab), and a real treat, a UP SD40-2. We looked to the left for another suprise, a HELM leasing SD40M-2 was sitting by itself! 2 slug sets and a set of Dash 9s (one new logo and one old). We snapped shots of the units then we ate (or tried to eat). As we pulled into the drive-through at McDonalds we heard something on the scanner about 15T (the NS runthrough train with the UP units) at "Burn" (the interlocking near the McDonalds we were waiting (in a long line and we weren't close to ordering). We left quickly to find it was 261, the daily NS Roadrailer that went by. We waited and saw no train and it was dark so we left. I'll give the day a A.

See ya!

By now a lot of you want to know what a C40-9, new logo, MT6, and Roadrailer are, I posted these pics I found on the internet to answer any questions you may have.

MT6

I got that off of CRcorp (http://www.trainweb.org/crcorp), great site

Roadrailers are trucks that rail on rails (check the site to learn more).
