Well my first experience with their web site is not good.  Buggy as heck.   Set up my login ok but it wouldn't hold it page to page.  Kept prompting me for it again.   It would not keep the quantities right in the shopping cart.  I selected quantity of 2 for one item and everything I added after that went in as quantity 2.  Couldn't clear it.  Had to dump the whole cart.  Got a whole cart loaded up and went to checkout, made me login again and it dumped the whole cart.  Finally tried it with different (non MS IE) browser and finally think I got an order through.

However if by some miracle it keeps that order, and I actually get what I ordered, my loco inventory just went up by two sound locos for under $100.

Interesting site. I see that they're listing a few things there that are out of stock elsewhere and/or otherwise not really easy to find.

Aside from some technical quirks, the site has one problem that stands out to me, and it's entirely a matter of my own personal preference- I haven't found anywhere on the site where it says where the company is physically based. Before I hand over personal information such as a credit card number, it's a little quirk of mine that I really like to know where a business is located, as part of knowing who I'm dealing with.

I agree. The prices looked great, but I ran into an inventory problem when just trying to order some Code 83 Atlas switches. Both the manual and remote switches were not in stock for the amount I was looking for. I was only looking 7 turnouts altogether and I couldn't get that many with a combination of mans. and remotes. Eh, I'll have to watch that. But in the mean time I did a little test to try and contact them to ask them just thos questions fmilhaupt. I asked them where they were located and if there was a telephone number I could use to contact someone directly if I had a problem. We'll see what kind of respsone I get and how long it takes them to respond.

One small issue I noticed is that when I setup my on-line account it did NOT email me my account information, which is the norm when creating a logon account to a site. Hmmmmm??? I'll have to see if my SPAM increases.

Anyone else have any experience with this site. I hope it turns out to legit because the prices are just amazing.

anyone with further or recent experience with this online store?  The do seem to have attractive prices on some hard to find stuff.  But are they real?  It is a little off-putting that the site has very little "about us"

I set up a online account through their page like I mentioned above and a few DAYS later this is what I received:

Dear Mr. AltoonaRailRoader,

We welcome you to TrainLiquidators.

You can now take part in the various services we have to offer you. Some of these services include:

Permanent Cart - Any products added to your online cart remain there until you remove them, or check them out.
Address Book - We can now deliver your products to another address other than yours! This is perfect to send birthday gifts direct to the birthday-person themselves.
Order History - View your history of purchases that you have made with us.
Products Reviews - Share your opinions on products with our other customers.

For help with any of our online services, please email the store-owner: sales@trainliquidators.com.

Note: This email address was given to us by one of our customers. If you did not signup to be a member, please send an email to sales@trainliquidators.com.

Not very personal and still no address or direct phone number. I've also returned a few weeks after this post was originally put up and looked to order what I was looking for before, the #4 Atlas C83 turnouts either manual or remote and once again they either didn't have any in stock or had like one or two of one or the other. Not a good way to do business in my book. I'm not one to order out of stock items, have my card charged then sit and wait WEEKS for stuff to show up. Uh-Uh!!! Sign - Dots [#dots]

My advice would be to order something small, in other words, spend what you can afford to lose and then do us a favor and report back to us. The prices do look good, but I think this might just be some smuck running a web page that has a small supplier and as you order your stuff, he takes your money then orders it from his supplier and has it drop shipped to you. The ultimate middle man.

Trainliquidators.com is located in Grayslake, IL. I ordered some out of production Bar Mills billboard kits and they were priced at about a 25% discount from list price. I had no problem with my transaction nor have I received any unsolicited emails from them since creating my account.

Don, thanks for the reply, and for testing out the site for the rest of us.  Based upon your positive experience, I think I'll give them a shot with a small order.

Maybe I overlooked it, but when I looked at the web site, I could not find any phone number or address.  The deals are OK, but if I can't talk to someone and see an address and know who I am dealing with, I would never order from them.

 Just my thought.

Just as an update, placed a good order with these folks and service was superb...price is great, delivery in days.  They don't have everything you might want, for I believe they get stuff from closeouts and going out of business sales, but what they have, price is excellent.  Recommended.

i had a look in their HO steam loco's section and found that Atlas is making a 2-6-0 ...

well maybe not , they make a 2-6-0 in N and i didn't see anything on Atlas's site to indicate they were coming out with one in HO .

also interesting to note is that trainliquidators.com has a link to Atlas's site , but actually sends me to another page on their site that tells me i have to have cookies enabled to get there

Under their "information" section (left hand side bottom, home page) is a "shipping and returns" section where the following information is clearly stated:

You can contact us by mail at

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.

Notice their name:  LIQUIDATORS.  That means they sell old stock that is being cleared out of warehouses or that they get from estate sales.  Nothing is going to be current stock, and there will certainly be no manufacturer's warranty in effect.
