Okay, I can understand why some of you dislike UP, but I will always be a UP fan, even if I might have to pay a little more for models of UP equipment.
huh?

UP seems to be turning into the Wal-Mart of railroads--they gobbled up every other railroad in town under an ocean of yellow. I wouldn't mind so much if they restricted their copyright silliness to UP-only stock--but they claim that they have the same rights over no-longer-functional railroads that they have absorbed.

Okay, sure, they have a right to do what they want with thier copyright. They also have the right to paint swastikas and "Union Pacific: We Love Adolf Hitler!" on the sides of their cars. But I'm sure that they might think just a bit about their corporate image before doing the latter--why can't they see what their current course of action is doing?

Remember Newton's law: What goes UP, will come down.
It's just a matter of time.

CNWfan5525, CNW does rule.

P.S. Union Pacific doesn't exist, it's Rio Grande that technically bought Southern Pacific who technically bought Union Pacific.

[soapbox] you might dislike UP for what they did to other railroads you might dislike UP because they are BIG, you might dislike UP because you think they are greedy, you dislike UP because they are very rich and wants to get richer, yet you all ru***o your computershop to fork over more money to Bill-ion $$ Gates' Microsoft another every time he makes another cripple "operating" system to get that installed and visit multi milliondollar websites never complain about that and ventilate your disgust over some railroad company who wants a piece of the cake

what is this all about?? should we call this a financial politics forum or what,
this is a MODEL RAILROAD forum

Besides UP wanting to (possibly?) be reimbursed for scale models with the UP logo (which, I think, is overkill but hey, what do I know???), what's the big deal anyway? What am I missing here? Why aren't we bashing the BNSF, too? I'm just glad that we still have the UP in operation, considering merger mania.[8D]

But it was UP's management that took over from SP, absorbed what it could and cast off all the old guard SP heads that had wrecked the company, it was UP management that oversaw the virtual rebuilding of the decrepid SP system, got rid of old worn out equipment and got new replacements. So UP does deserve a lot of credit for turning around a company that was by all accounts about to fall apart at the seams, but that was then, now they are flexing thier corporate muscles and IMO seeing how far they can pu***hings around. Only time will tell the outcome of this story.

   Have fun with your trains
