Hands down winner is the Florida East Coast Railway. What other has gone to sea or lasted, without merger or take-over for more than 100 years.

Mines the Green Mountain Railroad/Vermont reailroad. The Vermont railroad owns the Washington County RR,Green Mountain RR, Clarendon and Pittsford RR, and the New York and Odgensburg. All these short lines run throughout Vermont and New York.

For me it has to be the one I went to work for right out of high school as a fireman.
The B&O !
Unfotunately that was cut short by the Vietnam draft.

BN is the main line I will be modeling but with MEC a very close second. Since it's my world to model maybe I will have an interchange between the two.

Linking 13 States with the Nation. The Baltimore and Ohio. Its tracks ran 2 blocks from my house when I was growing up. I used to watch the trains from across the street on my grandmother's front porch. Ah, the lovely E's and F's that went by.

In 1955, I did see one steam locomotive go by, but it was partially obscured by the trees and the hillside and I was much too young (3) to know anything about steam locomotives.
