SW7 Pictures

The model was acquired sometime in the late 80's at Gilbert's in Gettysburg PA. At the time, the Cow was powered and Calf unpowered.

Recently I cleaned the models, refinished the railings and partially repainted the models using Floquil Colors. Reefer White went onto the rails, Weathered Black onto the end plates, sideframes and fuel tank area. The stacks were left as is (I think there should be only one stack) and painted gunmetal. They were topped with Black to represent exhaust.

The orginal factory letters and paint was left as is. Some dullcote was applied to kill the "Toy set" shine. The wheels were left alone for good electrical pickup. It is hoped for a good "Wheel Brown" floquil paint to be found for it. Kaydee #5 couplers were installed in the ends. I found I needed to "Compress" the metal coupler covers to make them stay onto the coupler box.

A new power chassis was added to the calf and a plastic drawbar placed between the units. They destroy couplers after several starts. However they get along well during switching. They can be a bit exuberant and has pulled 15 cars together.

The top picture was taken with a camera that is very basic and needed to be like 20 inches away. The second image is taken with a Concord 3.1 Megapixel that is capable of Macro between 9 to 12 inches and has a view screen on back to ensure a good shot. What a difference.

Jongrant, I was able to see your Picture, I think your unit looks great! I think adding that plow on there to hide the monsterous hole below the coupler is a coup!

if you browse through that album with the SW1001, you will get a blow-by-blow account of how I converted it. Nothing too difficult, the worst part being the filing required to narrow the frame to accept the SW1000 hood.

Are you copying the photos address from the address box near the top of the screen or are you copying the photo's image properties. I can only get a pic to link with the full address. If that fails, maybe try changing your web host for posting pics to the net. I got 10mb free with my MSN group, but there are loads out there.
