I was 3 when I got my first train set. We ended up moving to Texas so my parents could get a room for my trains (that is what they tell people). 30+ years later I am finally building a layout I have dreamed of since then.

I got a train set when I was twelve years old, and I added some track, more freight cars and a couple locos. I was somewhat serious about it - I even bought a couple of issues of Model Railroader and Trains magazines. But after a year of 'railoading' I gave it up for rock 'n' roll. I got back into model railroading when I was 20, and I've remained a model railroader ever since.

My earliest memory--of any kind--is of watching trains in England when I was three years old! I started reading MR when I was thirteen, and dabbled in the hobby through my teen years. I got serious about building a layout four years ago, at the age of 39.

I have been involved in this hobby since day one, thanks to my Dad. He grew up watching the very end of steam on the CNW and he was hooked. He spread the hobby to my and my two older brothers. So for me 28 years and counting.

I remember my first HO scale set when I was three. My dad built a simple figure eight and the wheels of othe 0-8-0 made sparks were made when it went over the crossing.

Modular railroading at its best!
If it has an X in it, it sucks! And yes, I just had my modeler's license renewed last week!

My uncle gave me a set when I was 12. But my real start was when I
was 13 . I mounted some tracks and had a very primitive loop of track.
Have not looked back since. Times have changed and the layouts gotten
MUCH BIGGER. Funny, THIS IS MY 20th Year in model railroading !!!!!

My first train was in 1963. I was 5 and got a Lionel outfit. In 1967, I got an AHM HO outfit and modeled in HO throughout my teens.

I got my first train set when I was about seven or eight (a Kellogg's train that I got
by saving cereal box tops). It got used and abused and put away somewhere. Then
came my teen years..... Girls, partying, girls, partying, girls....well, you see the pattern.
Needless to say, trains took a backseat to other "hobbies". These "hobbies" lasted
through my twenties, along with work. Now that I'm in my thirties and have settled
down considerably, I now have the time and money to really enjoy my trains. I still
haven't built "the layout" yet. That will come in time. For now my small layout
keeps me busy and is sharpening the skills I'll need for my ultimate layout.... oneday.

I grew up by a small yard and my grand mothers brother would take me on train rides when I was around 10 also my next door neighbor had an HO set up I would check out from time to time. I didnt start my own layout until I was 27.
