Ideas and/or pictures for building track around ceiling

I was hoping to find some pictures and or suggestions regarding building a track that is about 12 - 18" from the ceiling. If anyone has any pictures, I would love to see them. Please email to adamandamysmith@aol.com
The room that this will go in is ~15 x 18 with 9' ceilings. There is an opening that is ~5' for the stairs. I would like to build some type of bridge for this area. I would also like to include a tunnel on the adjacent wall. Any pictures and or suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Please email.
Thank you,
Adam

What scale?
Standard shelf brackets work pretty well for supports.
Nigel N&W in HO scale, 1950 - 1955 (..and some a bit newer too) Now in San Jose, California

Your best bet would be to get a copy of Garden Railways Magazine and look through it, since most of the indoor layouts of the type you are interested in are G-scale. A lot of companies that make suspension brackets, shelf brackets, see-through roadbed, etc. advertise in that magazine, and you can get some good ideas from them.

I posted this on the Layouts and layout building forum.
On the Discovery Channel show Monster House, they hung a Lionel train set from the ceiling. Here's a link to some photo's. They had it going in an out of rooms throughout the house.

Hi Adam. If you live in So California make a visit to the McDonalds 1/4 mile from Knotts Berry Farm (the amusement park in Buena Park - very near Disneyland in Annaheim) on Beach Blvd. They have an extensive G gage layout hung from the ceiling, as well as a regular waist level glass enclosed display G gage layout. It was featured in Model RR'r a few years back. I was just in there last week with the family while visiting Knotts and even took a bunch of digital pics of the enclosed layout, but didn't take any of the tracks/layout hung from the ceiling. Unfortunately, I live about 60 miles from there and won't be back to see it until next year sometime. Me and my friends have often thought that if we ever tried to hang some track from the ceiling, we'd use the approach they used at that restaraunt - it's very nice and well constructed. You might want to try and find that issue of MR it was featured in. I have it at home, and will try to look it up for you. Take care.
Greg
