I've seen some very neat display/storage units on www.train-safe.de, unfortunately they're very expensive but for those with deep pockets they might be worth a look. Basically they are perspex tubes with rails in the base, that are designed to be placed on brackets on the wall. I'm planning to build a few similar units for my longer freight cars - 5 unit Double stacks and spine cars.
