Assuming your computer has a serial port; most do not anymore.

You will need a RS232 to USB adapter. They are fairly common, but it pays to find one with drivers for your computer/OS.

You should only need an RS-232 cable for your new PH Pro to communicate with Decoder Pro.  A Power Cab needs the USB module.

New DCC System and Decoder Pro
Posted by reasearchhound on Monday, January 25, 2021 1:40 PM

In light of the issues I was having with my MRC Prodegy Advance, I decided to spring for a new system and have a NCE 5240001 PH-Power Pro DCC Starter System coming this week. Wondering about the Decoder Pro for interfacing it with my computer. Seems to be what everyone is using and haven't seen any negatives about it.

Thoughts?
