It will be easiest to operate them together if they have decoders that offer the same motor control. Soundtraxx has motor only decoders that match the Tsunami 2, and even a 21 pin model. MC1H104P21 is the 21 pin motor only decoder.

I've purchased a Genesis F9AB set with DCC/Sound (they come with Tsunami 2), and a companion DCC ready F9B.

Would it be best to buy a same brand DCC nonsound decoder to go in the B unit?  It has a 21-pin NEM DCC plug.  Does Soundtrax make a 12-in non-sound DCC decoder and if so, what is the part number.  Or does it matter?
