Hi everyone, I'm Marco from Italy and I'm new here on the forum.I just got two Athearn Genesis SD70 Ace BNSF ATHG68865 and one UP ATHG89832 both with Sound. I have an Esu Ecos2 control unit, as they have slightly different characteristics from the European models, I ask you what is a good digital setting for these loco. For example I noticed that on the BNSF by varying the CV 51 = 73 and the CV52 = 105 we get alternating ditch lights while putting the same values on the UP I don't get the alternating lights when I press airhorn, why?For now I will stop hereThanks for the help Marco
Marco, which decoder(s)? LokSound, Sountraxx Tsunami, Tsunami 2,...?

A better title for your post would have been Ditch Light Behavior for SD70Ace Genesis
Not many in this forum own the Ecos2, but I think it's a Tsunami issue not an ESU issue. According to the Soundtrax Tsunami 2 Diesel users guide, page 32, the lights should not flash with the horn activated. The BNSF is an older model, but the best I can tell, they are both Tsunami 2's. I don't have an answer.

Hi Marco
I live in the UK and model modern day Southern California. I visit the USA annually to railman and take photo/ videos of trains to help with my modelling. In my experience, UP and BNSF locos DO NOT use flashing lights when the horn is sounded.
My experience of CSX and Amtrak is that thsir locos DO flash ditchlights when the horn is sounded.
Changing CVS may not be needed.

thanks for the welcome, i forgot to write it i'm series sound with Tsunami2 from Genesis. In fact at the beginning the lights were not alternated during the sound, but changing precisely the CV 51 = 73 and the CV52 = 105 I got this effect, but only on the BNSF while on the UP no. They also have the same decoder ....Then I wanted to know the CVs that are finely adjusted for real operation (acceleration braking sound effect etc)Thanks again
That's generally correct, most Western US roads don't use flashing ditch lights, the Eastern roads usually do. You left out Norfolk Southern - probably don't see too many of their locos in California - around here, they use flashing ones.
Like anything else, there's exceptions, so I will stop short of saying anything more than 'generally'.

The UP ATHG89832 is one of the newer 8 output decoders. it has a NEW Techref so I suggest you download it and read the changes. there are a few changes because of the 2 added outputs and things have been shuffled around a bit.
Go to the Soundtraxx web site and download the New User Guide and Technical Reference manuals 1.2
