I`m newer to dcc and I still need to learn my way around it, because of this I have hit several issues over the past few months regarding DCC progaming. This issue, the most perplexing thus far is that in my Rapido Fl9 the Loksound decoder is no longer allowing my to change cv values in ops mode (I don`t have accsess to a progamming track at the moment). Whenever I attempt to change a CV in that decoder it changes the address to the cv value I enter into my DCS51. I`ve tried doing a factory reset (CV8=8), but it just changes the locomotive address to 8. When I first recieved this locomotive it behaved and progammed normally. It has only been in the past week that this unusual behavior has been exhibited. Does anyone know how I can fix this issue?

What mode are you programming in? POM (programming on the main) or programming track mode? If the former I would try resetting it using the latter. I generally do all my programming in programming track mode.
Also, do you have any other locomotives? Do you have any issues resetting those? You might try resetting your Digitrax Zephyr to see if that resolves anything. Just an idea...

A reset should change address to 3. Is 8 a typo? Is the loco responding to address 3 or 8? If it is set to 3 and you're trying to change cvs on 8 of course that won't work.
I believe a reset of cv8 to 8 should be followed by powering off then on. At least with some decoders if not Loks.

It wasn't a typo, when I attempted to reset it using CV 8 to 8 it would change the address to 8. Im no longer having that issue with a reset, but if I try to change the CV value for any other CV the CV number becomes the new locomotive address.
I am using POM at the moment since I only have access to a programming track at the club right now. I have other locomotives and they appear to be functioning just fine when I change CV values. How would I go about reseting zephyr?

What Will is saying is that whatever number he enters for a particular CV, THAT'S what the new loco address becomes.
And sorry, Will - I must have breezed right over you already answering my questions about programming in OPS/POM mode in your initial post.
Sounds like a catch 22 kinda thing. In order to program in ops mode, you have to dial up the engine address. If you try to change a CV and it changes the address, do you have to dial up the new address to continue attempting programming ? Sounds like you'd be constantly chasing your tail !

If it was okay to start and is now not okay, then at some point something changed. Since the decoder is not normally capable of changing itself, that only leaves one other culprit. So what were you attempting to do when the issue occurred?
What I was trying to do was to set CV 54 to 0. It impro slow speed operation of Rapido models. That's when I first noticed the problem. It ended up on address 54.
If you want to change CV9=8 to do a reset on the DCS51, you put the loco on the program track, then press the PROG button until the display says dir. The press the CV button and enter 8. The press CV-RD, the display should change to whatever ESU's manufacturer ID is. Key in 008 so the display show d008 and press CV-WR. That should reset the decoder. If you are changing the address to 8, you are hitting the Looco key instead of CV. You only use the Loco key when changing the address, to change any other CV you just use the CV, CV-RD, and CV-WR keys to select, read, and write the CVs. Page 25 of the current DVS51 manual, section 16.3 for programming CBs other than the loco address.
In Ops mode, which programs on the main, Digitrax supports programming to address 0, which is a broadcast. MAKE SURE ALL OTHER LOCOS ARE OFF THE TRACK if you want to try it this way. Select address 0 like you are going to run a loco. Hit PROG until the display says OPS. Hit the CV key, put in 9. You can't read on the main, so next hit the CV key again, key in 008 and hit CV-WR. Hot EXIT to get out of program mode, turn off the track power, or tip the loco off the rails, and then it should run on address 3. Warning again, because it is important - MAKE SURE ALL OTHER LOCOS ARE OFF THE TRACKS because Ops Mode programming to address 0 will set EVERY loco on the track.
