Does anyone know were i could get a power supply for the Digitrax DCS 240?  I know it needs to be dc output and around 13-18 volts and 5amp.  Im hoping to not spend a fortune beings the dcs 240 was already almost 300.00.  Thanks and any links or exact product number etc. would be appriciated.  Thanks again

You can pick up a 5 to 10 amp switching power supply off eBay for under $15.

From the DCS240 product page: Minimum Input 13VDC.

That link points to 12V supplies.

I have the right to remain silent.  By posting here I have given up that right and accept that anything I say can and will be used as evidence to critique me.

You could start here:

https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=laptop+power+supply

I brought home dozens of these things over the years as people upgraded or the company tossed out computers. Most seem to be around 96 watts that will give you about 4.5 amps.

Of course if the barrel plug doesn't fit you can use the screw terminals on the DCS240, probably a better choice and recommended by Digitrax if you go above 5 amps.

I have about 13.5 volts at the rail so you are probably looking for 15 to 17 volt supply. Obviously some are selectable.

Regards, Ed
