Randy, good too know they switched. Newer versions must be, at least they are better now Smile

So, if MRC, CV125=1 for reset, if the Tsunami, CV8=8 for reset.

If the Tsunami, programming reset on main is needed, unless programming booster is being used. Could that be the issue? Won't take the reset otherwise... Service mode or ops mode, then power cycle. And, tip: If when you restore power, the sound starts up immediately, reset failed... If the reset worked, sound should be delayed by a few seconds, and then start up, and the lights will flash.

Thanks for the reply.  I contacted Athearn about the problem and their guidance was the CV 8 and 30 addresses, even thought they did not seem to match the problem.  I'll try CV 125.

Thanks for the reply.  The guidance I got from Athearn was to reset either CV 30 or 8, even thought these addresses did not seem to fit the problem.  I did cut power after the reset.

Well that depends, do you have one with the MRC decoder, or one with the Soundtraxx decoder? They did switch, from the unreliable and not very good sounding MRC (but hey, it was cheap) to a cut down Tsunami. Use the appropriate reset. If it won;t run after a full reset, and even the remote control fob won't do anything, it's probably toast.

CV 8=8? What I seen, CV125=1 is the reset on Genisis F7's.... Unless you have a different model than the one I seen the manual for..... Did yours come with the 6 button remote for DCC sound operation? And, no idea what CV 30 is, as it's not listed in the manual I've seen.... Makes me wonder if the decoder was changed during production runs?

Edit: BTW, Welcome

After your reset procedure, what address did you use to acquire the decoder for control purposes?

Did you cut track power after the reset?  This is important, a step that many forget.

Loss of locomotive throttle

Ho scale with MRC Prodigy Advance2 DCC.

My Athearn Genesis F7 was running without problems until I put it on a Woodland Scenics Tidy Track.  Powering the Tidy Track via the clips to the main line, the F7 powered up with sound and lights but no movement.  Returning the F7 to the main line, I have the same problem - no movement.

I reset CV 8 to a value of 8 and CV 30 to 2, but the problem remains.  Any advice?
