NCE Power Cab Non responsive

After a normal session and shut down my 2 year old NCE Power Pro 5 Amp is non responsive. No changes in wiring no shorts during last session just doesn't power up. Checked connections from power supply (NCE"S) to Power Cab and see no issues. I have to admit this unit has been "twitchy" in the past powering up and not getting to the "normal" display consistently about a year ago. Those problems were solved. I have 5 power districts all with circut breakers (PSX) and 2 "reverse loop" (PSAR). Layout still in construction phase and have never run more than 2 locos at a time. Thoughts?

Are you getting power out of the wall outlet?

Power light comes on when I turn on the power supply and the light works in the other socket so I would say yes. I did switch the lamp and it lights on the power supply socket.

Disconnect and isolate the Power cab from the track and all other devices. (That will ensure there are no shorts from the layout affecting the NCE Power Cab). Check power in first. Check that you have power from the socket. Then check that you have mains power to the transformer. Check the plug, the wiring in the plug making sure there is good contact and check the fuse. (Intermittent flickering could mean you have a bad connection). If in doubt, replace the fuse. Check you have power from the transformer to the NCE Power cab. If all checks out OK, then the unit should power up. The power out from the unit to the track can be checked in isolation.

However, if the unit is still dead, then it looks like the Power Cab has a fault. The unit does have a safety protect switch out from shorts from the track and devices and will auto reset. But no power up after all these checks means there's a fault. I would contact NEC directly or ask questions on the NEC Yahoo forum at http://groups.yahoo.com/subscribe.cgi/nce-dcc

How were those earlier problems solved?

That could give us a clue.

A power wire to the cab was found to have a bad crimp.
