I'd love to .... but all I can afford is a Automobile trip in to town for a Coffee .

What I "want" and "can afford" always seem to be two different things !  Grumpy

The direct would replace the Athearn board. While you're at it, remove those silly light bulbs that protrude through the light castings and repalce with LEDs and some lenses.

The Athearn RS3 has the crummy Atheran board in it with the dual plugs. Instead of the direct I would use the Select wired decoder (Much smaller). Don't forget resistors for the lights.

The LokSound Select Direct is thinner than a Tsunami.

The Loksound Select Direct will fit the Atlas RS3 - as a matter of fact, the new RS3's Atlas is bringing out with sound has that exact decoder in it !

My friend gave me an HO Athearn RTR RS3 with the MRC drop in sound decoder in it. I want to replace the decoder with a better one and am looking at the new LocSound Direct. My concern is this decoder looks too tall to fit inside the shell. Has anyone installed this decoder in this loco? My second choice would be a Tsunami TSU AT1000. Thanks for any help  Joe
