Headlight issue on BLI diesel
Posted by Guy Papillon on Friday, September 27, 2013 5:50 PM

The headlights on the BLI NW2 will go on automatically when I power the layout, even if I shut them down before shutting the layout down the session before.  I would like to be the one who decide if the headlights should be on or off.  Maybe it is kind off a "power trip" but I don't like to see the headlight on when I don't operate that specific loco. I looked at the BLI Paragon 2 Operator's Manual but didn't find any indication about a CV that I could program to control that.  Maybe I missed something.

Can somebody help?

GUY,

From what I gather, FO,button, controls, headlight front and rear,on and off,,CV33 controls that function, should be a value of 1..But what do I know, I use DC.Smile

Cheers,

Frank

Guy.

Is DC enabled in CV29? My theory is that the decoder is sensing a DC signal just a fraction of a second before a DCC signal is detected.

Frank,

CV33 = 1 so the function is enabled.

Pete,

CV29 = 34 so DC mode is off

i send an email to BLI Support.  I will keep you informed if I ever receive an answer.

Here is the answer from BLI Support.

"To the best of our knowledge, there is no way to have the lights off at startup.  The headlights come on automatically as soon as power is sensed, but the engine has to be addressed and lights manually turned off."

Well thats just weird. Then why does my BLI 4-8-2 Paragon 2, when I power my system on the lights are off. Unless I address the loco and start moving forward.

I have to agree with Michael. None of mine (all steam) do not come on at power up.

I also own a BLI 2-8-2 Mikado which behaves normally.  Weird indeed.
