soldering Gaugemaster solder pads
Posted by subman on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 1:57 PM

I am using Gaugemaster PM1 point motors to operate my 3 Peco 3 way insulfrog turnouts. Can anyone give me some suggestions on how to solder to the PM1 solder pads?

                                                         Thanks

BOB,

I recommend, 60/40,Rosin Core solder,it's about 1/16 diameter,,either,Oatey,Kester,,Radio Shack used to have Oatey..I'm guessing, the pads are already tinned,if not,I would recommend that you tin them and tin the wire, that you will solder to it..

Cheers,

Frank

BoB,

I forgot to add,,,hope you have a small watt,,soldering iron, pencil tip or small chisel tip,,about,25to40 watt, would be fine, stay away from a big soldering gun if you can help it,,,way too big for the pads..

Cheers,

Frank

Hi Bob,

Any fine tiped / low watt iron'll do on a Seep, check you use the right tabs, not the accsesory ones and you could do with using a CDU as well

Be in touch.
