Tomcat,

First off,the motor, does not make the loco go,faster or slower, the gearing does,,you can not have that in Model equipment, without a transmission..And if you want a fast engine, see if you can find on E-bay.a used BB Anthearn, rubber band drive, engine,,if you can keep that on the tracks,at full speed,,good luck!!

Cheers,

Well, actually the motor can make a difference, as some of them run at higher or lower RPM.

That said, most (many?) people run their trains faster than what would be prototypical because they don't have any idea what the train speeds are in the first place.

It would seem to me a better plan would be to slow down most of the trains and then the streamliner can whiz by.  That gives the optical effect without all the potential expense.

What type of locomotive are you considering a replacement motor for?

REPLACEMENT MOTORS

Can I change motor types in an engine if I wish for a faster more powerful train/loco ?

EG a fast passenger train?

I know its probably not going to be prototypical in speed scale but more just a visual effect .

Does anyone know of a fast motor type by anyone  and are they difficult to change ?

Any suggestions
