DCC and Bachmann EZ Track

Greetings all,

 

I’m using Bachmann EZ track and I’m going to use a Digitrax DCC Super Chief system.  The Bachmann track has a terminal section, straight track, to pick the electricity from my currently used transformer.  The wire connection between the terminal section and the transformer has spaded connections to connect to the transformer.

 

How should I go about getting wires to the DCC system because the DCC connection can’t use the spaded wire connections?

 

Also, I’ve been advised to have track power connections every few feet and I can’t/don’t wish to spend money to buy many EZ track terminal track sections.  How do people who use EZ track go about making these connections?  Drill holes through the plastic road bed and won’t that melt the plastic?

 

I also have a few EZ track #6 turnouts which I purchased a few years ago, will I have any issues with these using DCC?

 

Any suggestions figuring out these issues will be helpful.

You can buy a cable that fits the EZTrack, or you can modify the one you have.

You didn't indicate how much track you have.  EZTrack uses standard joiners.  You can purchase, or make, joiners with wire soldered to the bottoms and use them instead of the joiner that come on the track.

What I would do is to use what connects well to the EZ-Track at that one spot, and I would also look seriuosly at at least one other pair of feeders on the opposite side of the rails system for a modestly sized loop.  The end that goes into the output terminals of the DB150 should be twisted and tinned wired in the 20-14 gauge range, depending on the size of the rail system and the distance those wires had to get to the rail. 

By tinned I mean you wind the nice 'n tight so they can be inserted into the DB's receptacles, but also tinned with solder to keep them nice 'n tight at that end.  If you have to snip off a different connector for that end, so be it.

Hi, I have a 4x8 layout using EZ track and a digitrax zephyr dcc system. I didn't use the bachmann terminal connectors because I put roads over them as crossings. Instead I soldered wires directly to the track in 2 places. Then I ran those wires to a terminal block and connected that to my dcc controller.

My turnouts are not dcc, so I wired those up to an old dc power supply and mounted the controller switches by my dcc unit.
