QSI Titan A not functioning in DCC
Posted by Billm10454 on Monday, June 3, 2013 9:59 AM

I installed a QSI Titan A sound decoder in a Proto 1000 F7 last week. It ran great until today. Will not run in DCC but it does run with sound in DC. I did a decoder reset but that did not help. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

If you really did do the three-stage reset, and it didn't take, you need to call QSI.  I assume you had the decoder address on your throttle, or that decoder selected for reset?  Did you do it on a programming track?  Make sure you have the correct three CV's, in order, with the correct values, and I would try using Address "00" in Ops Mode, or programming on the main.  Just make sure no other decoders are getting power when you do this...remove all locomotives from the rails first.

In my experience resetting QSI decoders can be challenging.

One thing that I have learned is to take your time. The decoders apparently take a while to process all the reset commands sometimes. So, for example, when you have input all the reset commands and turned the power off and then on, give the decoder a few minutes to do its thing before inputting any new commands.

The other thing I have learned is that resetting the decoder may take several tries.

Finally, I would go back and read the manual to make sure you are following the exact reset sequence including turning the power off and back on at the appropriate time.

Best of luck!

Thanks for the replies. Nothing worked. I called tech support and they said to return it.
