I used a 1/2" by 1" oval speaker and enclosure in my SD70, I'm sure it would fit the SD80 too. Pretty much any GP or SD width hood will usually be able to fit an oval speaker. You might have to move the rear light tube or something else, but you should be able to find a spot in the long hood for it.

Only the Kato SD38, AC4400 and F40PH have the 1" speaker enclosures.

Sorry...the Kato SD80 doesn't have the fuel tank speaker enclosure.To my knowledge,only the newer SD40-2,AC4400 and Dash 9 and may be the newer SD90. have them.I own two of these,makes installation of a one inch speaker a  breeze.But I also have a SD80 on shipping and know I'll have to use smaller oval speakers.

 I am 80% sure there is a mounting point in the fuel tank.
