I use a Prodigy Advance DCC system and am having trouble programming my Intermountain F7s. I go through the "normal" process for programming a unit, but when I place the F7 on the main track, it will not move. The lights and sound work fine, but there is no "moto" in the loco . . . . It is beautiful sitting there rumbling and grumbling, but it would be nice to see it move. Any ideas?

Some sound decoders have "brakes" feature...make they're not "on" usually F11..This failing,check if both the decoders and your control are set for the same acceleration settings...14 steps vs 28-128 steps.
DO the sounds change with the throttle? Can you turn the headlight on and off? If not, it's not actually taking the address, common with automatic address settings and Tsunami decoders. You may have to manually set CV17 and 18, and then 29. Odds are pretty good it took the address part and just missed the CV29 part, if your address is 128 or higher, set CV29 to 34 for a standard long address forward direction no speed table configuration, and see if that works.

The sounds don't change with the throttle, but I can turn the headlight on and off. I also tried turning F11 on and off as suggested by another memeber of this site, and reducing the speed steps to 14. That didn't help either. The address I am using for the loco is 802 (an L&N F unit), so I set CV29 to 34, as you suggested. That didn't do it. I also tried 32 for CV29. I am new at this . . . I tried setting CV 17 and 18 to 0 . . . should I set them at something else? I reset the loco several times during all this (started from scratch), but nothing doing. I'm stymied! Thanks for your help.
If you set CV17 and 18 ro 0 it definitely won't work. If you've done that, it's probbaly really made a mess of things. Try doing a reset, either set CV30 to 2 or CV8 to 8. The loco should now work on address 3.
