One sounding like two
Posted by markie97 on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 9:10 PM

Hello;

I have a consist of two engines one with Tsunami sound the other without. I seem to remember reading somewhere that there is a setting to help make the tsunami sound like multple engines. Am I right about that? I did play with the reverb settings and that seemed to help.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

You must have a Tsunami with an articulated steam locomotive sound file in it, such as for a 4-6-6-4 Challenger or 4-8-8-4 Big Boy.

If your Tsunami's sound file is for a two-cylinder steam engine, there's no way to make it sound like a four-cylinder engine.

I'm assuming what the OP is asking about is for two diesels, not two steam engines.

Anyway, I know what he's talking about, but I might have to dig a bit to find the link again. Someone posted something a year or two back that if you have a Tsunami with reverb, you can set the reverb to be what in music is called a "slap back" echo, so you get the exact same sound repeated a fraction of a second later than the original sound.

The person who posted it was doing it to use a 1st generation EMD single-motor sound decoder (like for a GP or SD) to replicate the two-motor sound of an EMD E-unit...so maybe a search on something like "Tsunami E-unit reverb" might come up with a link??

Look at the below link in Curriculum, SoundTraxx. Tsunami.

http://www.mrdccu.com/

You can simulate a prime mover in a A unit and B unit with a decoder in only one unit. He does not mention if there should be a speaker in each unit but it can be done.

I have a F3 with one speaker in the A unit and two speakers in the B unit with one decoder in the A unit which powers the A unit motor and B unit motor.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
