I have the GML throttle and liked it. The one with memory is helpful when you unplug and walk around. Not real expensive. Although going wireless pushed us to look at other options, we then considered/tried Aristocraft, but went with Digitrax DCC as it matched our criteria much better.

For DC, I think that GML Enterprises' walkaround throttles are among the best around.

They've been making them for over twenty years. They're reliable and rugged.

Teerry,
I have one of the throttles that Mr. Stapleton sells and it worked great. I have since gone to DCC and don't use it any longer. Contact me if you are interested in one.

Life is what happens while you are making other plans!
Terry,
Myself and a a number of others use the Aristo Craft Train Engineer wireless radio DC throttle and are very happy with them.

These throttles have very good range and very good speed control. They use pulse width modulation motor control and are very easy to use.

Very nice and I see he actually sells on eBay as well. I'll contact him with my questions.
Thanks again.

An on-line search for DC throttles typically brings up circuits for DIY, and kits or pre-built throttles.

my thoughts, your choices

Back in the day, I had built a TAT IV walk around throttle, which had pulse and momentum capabilities. Since that time, I've moved and shuffled a lot of my gear away. I'm now getting back into railroading, and due to other issues that I've researched here, decided to avoid DCC. I would like to get back to having a walk around throttle, and my power pack (MRC Tech IV) has full DC out, so I could add a home built throttle to it.
But the years since I did any electronics are long gone and I'd like to be able to purchase either a consumer cab throttle or one constructed by a hobbyist.
Suggestions?
