Peter.

I am not confusing advanced consists with universal consisting. As an example if I advance consist 1234 as the lead unit, 5678 as the last unit and 1010 as a middle unit in reverse on my home layout with a consist address of 12. I take these three locos to the club and address the lead unit 1234. That loco will run but the others are still waiting for a command from the command station to the address in CV19. If I enter the consist address at the club then they all will work. The loco will only look for commands sent to the address in CV19.

Universal consist or double header on some systems there is no address added to CV19 on any of the decoders. The command station keeps track of the consist.

Pete,

Your confusing advanced and universal consisting. For a good explanation on consisting read this page:

When you advance consist an address is installed in CV19 of the decoders. When you are using decoder pro to set this address you are not including your command station. The command station does not know there is an address in CV19 and not addressing it. It is best to consist with the DCC system so all the chips involved are on the same page. This way the command station will send the command to the addressed locos.

I have yet to form a consist of any kind for any reason, but my understanding is that once you change the bit(s) to form a consist, the locos will no longer respond to their individual addresses.

Gentlemen

I am in the process of programming 3 BLI AC6000 Diesels. One is a original Paragon, One is a Paragon 2 series. The third engine was a stealth I had for awhile and installed a DH165Q1 decoder which works excellent. The problem I am having is when I use the consist program in Decoder Pro it assigns all the engines the consist number but, you can no longer use the original number of the engine. Can anyone give some insight as to what I'm doing wrong.
