I am really new to DCC. I have a Digitrax Superchief Xtra Radio Duplex system. I have connected the first district of my layout (3 more to follow using PSX circuit breakers) and have been having a ball running my only decodered locomotive (SW1500 switcher). Now, this morning, I found all of a sudden that I was in "IR" (infrared mode). The loco "ran away" and I couldn't stop it. Yesterday everything seemed to be OK using "radio".
What did I do to be in infrared? I went back to the manual and read what I could about infrared. I shut the system down, took out the battery in the DT402D controller. I started over, and it seemed to be OK for radio. The tip-off was that if I aimed the RJ12 plug towards the UR92, I could control the loco....speed, stopping it, etc.
The question is, if IR is accidently invoked, how can I change it back to Radio.....using the keypad on the DT402D? or some other method. This seems very confusing to me!

You use your options to set up your throttle. Check to see in the manual which option sets IR. usually it's option 3 or 4 set to 43 or 44 depending on the throttle. Check with Digitrax before changing anything then write your throttle options down once set up. I did this when I purchased my DT 400. Good Luck

It's really easy on a DT402 since the options now have names and not numbers. Press the Option key, then turn the right knob so you see IR and press N to disable IR. The next option is RF1, this is simples radio - press N to turn that off (since you have a DT402D DUplex throttle). Scroll through with the right knowb and make sure Duplex RF is on.
That will force the throttle to use Duplex when unplugged, even if it can 'see' the IR port.

Randy, thank you. I think your suggestion of changing the Options worked!.....of course, you knew it would!
