hello. I have just recently bought a digitrax DH123PS decoder. The problem I'm having is it wont go past speedstep 28. The decoder says it has 28/128 speedsteps. Could this just be the decoder or do I need to change some CV's? I'm still kinda new to DCC.
WHat DCC system are you using? The speed steps are controlled by the system not the decoder. If the decoder is in 28/128 mode, it is up to the command station to send 28 or 128, there is no change required ont eh decoder. The only time the decoder needs a change is to go to the long obsolete 14 speed step mode.

Just to make a point, changing from 28 speed steps to 128 speed steps will not increase the maximum speed of the locomotive. It will only increase the interval between speed settings.
